Good ol' Delphs. She really is, I think, the quintessential Basenji. She's frustrating beyond words. She has selective hearing, and can find and consume anything remotely bio-degradable. Look up 'iron constitution' in a dictionary (if the dictionary had phrases) and Delphi's picture would be there. And yet, a sweeter more endearing dog you can't find anywhere. She has the cutest, self-taught tricks. She knows the perfect head-tilt and wide-eyed innocent stare to melt your heart.

Delphi never really wanted to be a show dog. She put up with it for me. She would do tricks in the ring, if you asked. She always behaved perfectly & gaited with the best of them. However, her disinterest was horribly obvious. She had better things to do and was always perfectly content to sit ring-side in "dad's" lap while watching Shane do his thing.

Though she was not able to obtain an AKC conformation title, Delphi has many attributes I felt made her worthy of breeding. Good side-gait, a lovely front assembly, nice head, good temperament and nice clear tri markings are a few. She had only one litter, which consisted of three puppies. I felt she had done me proud and saw no reason to breed her again. She's spayed now, and happy as a little clam.
